Dr Nikki Dunne

Nikki is a sociologist in the field of care relations, practices and policies. She has a particular interest in applied and inclusive research, with a focus on integrating the knowledge of people with lived experience into both our health and research systems. Prior to joining the RCSI, Nikki was the Research Manager for Family Carers Ireland where she led out on the organisations’ programme of research and managed a diverse range of qualitative and quantitative projects relating to family carers, coordinating the involvement of family carers, researchers and other stakeholders. She has extensive experience of conducting participatory methodologies, including with family carers, young carers and people from ethnic minority backgrounds. Nikki has a PhD from the University of Edinburgh, where she was based at the Centre for Families and Relationships, working on projects relating to gender and care worker migration, DIY archival research methods and kindness in public policy.
