Patient Representative Researcher

Gráinne is a patient advocate and researcher, with a background as a senior occupational therapist. Following her own diagnosis with Sjögren’s, Gráinne co-founded Sjögren’s Ireland to meet a need for advocacy, education and community for Irish patients. She has volunteered on RCSI’s PPI panel for Sjögren’s for 2 years, co-authoring journal articles, an information booklet, and award-winning poster presentations. This partnership between RCSI & Sjögren’s Ireland was awarded highly commended at the Irish Healthcare Awards in 2022 & 2023, and Gráinne was a finalist in RCSI’s Public/ Patient Research Excellence Award in 2024. Gráinne graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 2006 with an honours degree in occupational therapy and has over 15 years’ experience working across a variety of healthcare settings. She has special interests in chronic disease management, mental health and care of the older person.
