Prof Michelle Flood
Principal Investigator
I am a senior lecturer and MPharm Deputy Director (Y4/5) at the School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Sciences. I am institutional academic lead for Patient and Public Involvement in Research (PPI) and site lead for the PPI Ignite Network, a funded national programme that promotes excellence and innovation in PPI. I am particularly interested in the role of PPI in preclinical research. My research combines human-centred design and health services research approaches, focusing on patient experience and outcomes in primary care. Some of my current projects include MECC Digital, a collaboration with the HSE that focuses on brief interventions, and the CONNECTS project, which addresses medication safety challenges during COVID-19. In 2018, I was awarded a Fulbright HRB HealthImpact Fellowship to Dell Medical School at the University of Texas at Austin. My other research interests include digital health and health professions education. I am a registered pharmacist, and worked in community pharmacy before moving to an academic role. In 2021 and 2022 I worked part-time as lead pharmacist at Citywest Centralised Vaccination Clinic as part of the national vaccination programme.
